Daily life at Mellows is shaped around familiarity, comfort, and meaningful routine. We understand that moving into residential care can be a significant transition, which is why we support each resident gently and at their own pace. Located on Station Road in Loughton, close to local shops and transport links, Mellows offers a setting that is both accessible for families and reassuringly familiar for residents.

Our care home offers 50 comfortable bedrooms and is supported by an experienced, consistent team who take time to build genuine relationships with residents. Care is delivered with warmth and professionalism, helping residents feel settled, supported, and at ease.

We are proud to be rated Good by the Care Quality Commission, reflecting our commitment to safe, effective, and compassionate care. Families can feel confident that their loved one is supported by clear standards, attentive oversight, and a team that genuinely cares.

Mellows provides professional support for a range of care needs, including dementia care, palliative care, intermediate care, and both short- and long-term residential stays. Care plans are developed collaboratively with residents and their families and are reviewed regularly to ensure they remain appropriate as needs change.

Our dementia care focuses on familiarity, reassurance, and continuity, helping residents feel secure while maintaining dignity and quality of life.

Our full-time Activities Coordinator works closely with residents to create a varied programme of social, creative, and gentle physical activities. These are designed to reflect individual interests and abilities, encouraging engagement while always respecting personal choice.

Residents are free to take part as much or as little as they wish, with flexibility built into daily routines so life continues to feel personal rather than prescribed.

Comfort and wellbeing are central to daily life at Mellows. We create a calm, familiar environment that helps residents feel settled, relaxed, and supported in their surroundings.

Residents enjoy nutritious, freshly prepared meals each day, with individual dietary needs and personal preferences carefully considered. Mealtimes are unhurried and form an important part of daily routine and enjoyment.

The garden and courtyard areas provide a peaceful outdoor setting, with benches, colourful planting, and mature trees that offer familiar sensory cues, particularly beneficial for residents living with dementia. A gentle water feature adds a calming presence, and awnings allow residents to sit comfortably outdoors during warmer months.

Outdoor spaces are also welcoming for visiting families, with play items for children, helping visits feel relaxed and natural for everyone.

Families are an important part of life at Mellows. We encourage open communication, welcome regular visits, and involve relatives in key decisions so they feel informed and reassured. Whether visiting regularly or staying closely involved in care planning, families are always welcome and valued as part of our community.

As part of the wider Mellows care provision, we also offer domiciliary care and supported living services. This allows continuity of support for individuals whose needs may change over time, while maintaining the same values, standards, and commitment to quality care.

If you are considering residential care for yourself or a loved one, we welcome you to contact our team to arrange a visit or discuss your needs in confidence.
