The Mellows has access to the following services to all residents & day care visitors:

  • Hairdressing:  A hairdresser visits the Home. You may of course continue using your regular hairdresser but if you wish to use the services of our visiting hairdresser please advise a member of staff who will then let your request be known to the hairdresser. The hairdresser will advise you of the charges.
  • Chiropody:  Chiropody services are provided to those who are assessed as requiring this service from the NHS. You may employ your own private chiropodist who may visit the Home or arrange an appointment at his premises. The Mellows is visited by a chiropodist who will advise you of the charges.
  • Optician Available:  The home offers an eyesight test to each resident annually. The Outside Clinic visits the home twice a year. The sight test is free. The Outside Clinic will advise you of any charges for spectacles. If you require repairs to spectacles the staff can arrange for this at the local optician. The optician may charge you for this service. You may choose to visit the optician if you wish.
  • TV Lounge
  • TV & Telephone point in rooms.
  • Newspapers (local & national):  The Home does provide 2 Daily |New Papers but can arrange for newspapers of your choice to be delivered daily from the local newsagent. The newsagent will send an account to you for payment.
  • Dentist Available:  You may visit your own dentist or request to have a visit from the Domiciliary dentist. The dentist will advise any charges to you.
  • The GP will arrange physiotherapy if it is necessary. You may of course arrange private physiotherapy if you wish.
  • GP Services:  The Local Health Centres provides medical care to all the residents. A GP visits the home on an as and when required basis but normally you would be visited by the GP within a week of your admission. If you require to see a doctor out with the normal visiting time the Staff will arrange a visit. G-Docs provide an out of hour’s service.
  • Religious Service
  • Laundry Service
  • Entertainment is regularly provided
  • Visiting:  We encourage family to visit and join in whenever possible. Children are welcome and we have a play area for them in the Garden should they want to use it.  However, we do request that meals times are avoided.
  • Outing are organised at extra costs.
